Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Baydar was born in Adıyaman on December 28, 1978. He completed his primary and secondary education at Adıyaman Fatih Primary School and Karacaoğlan Secondary School. He completed his high school education at Adıyaman High School.

After successfully passing the university entrance examination, he enrolled at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 1997. Following his graduation in 2003, he worked as a general practitioner at Besni State Hospital as part of his compulsory service.

In 2004, he chose Orthopedics and Traumatology in the Medical Specialty Examination and began his residency at İnönü University Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology. He completed his specialty training in 2010 and qualified as an Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist.

Between 2010 and 2011, he completed his compulsory service as an Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist at Kahramanmaraş Göksun State Hospital. In 2011, he resigned from his position at the state hospital.

In 2011, he began working at Adıyaman Private Gözde Hospital. In 2012, he left this position and was appointed as an Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist to the Hand Surgery Clinic at Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital.

During his five years at Baltalimanı, he participated in numerous scientific meetings, took part in international scientific activities, and contributed to academic publications. Due to his particular interest in hand surgery and microsurgery, he gained experience in thousands of cases. He contributed to the training of many Orthopedics and Traumatology and Hand Surgery residents. Benefiting from Baltalimanı’s 70 years of institutional experience, he rapidly advanced his professional expertise.

After successfully passing the subspecialty examination in 2014, he began his Hand Surgery subspecialty training at Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital Hand Surgery Clinic in 2015 and qualified as a Hand Surgery Subspecialist in 2017. After completing his compulsory service as a Hand Surgery Specialist at Adana City Hospital between 2017 and 2019, he returned to Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital Hand Surgery Clinic in 2019 as a Hand Surgery Specialist.

In 2021, he continued his academic activities as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Hamidiye Faculty of Medicine, University of Health Sciences. In 2022, he was appointed Head of the Hand Surgery Clinic at Baltalimanı Hospital. He continued contributing to academic research and to the training of numerous Orthopedics and Hand Surgery subspecialists. He also participated in scientific meetings as an invited speaker. As a result of his scientific studies, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor on January 27, 2023.

In October 2023, he resigned from all his previous positions and began working at Private Medical Park Maltepe Hospital. He started teaching as an Associate Professor at Bahçeşehir University in 2024 and at İstinye University from 2025 onward. During this period, he contributed to the education of hundreds of physicians, including students from different countries. Today, many of the students he has trained practice medicine and provide healthcare services in different countries around the world. Through the academic principles he has taught, his students continue to conduct scientific research, while he continues his clinical practice at Medical Park Maltepe Hospital.

He has 40 articles published in national and international scientific journals. These studies continue to receive citations and to be used as scientific references. He has also authored 3 book chapters and translated 2 book chapters.

He has extensive experience involving hundreds of cases, particularly in vascularized bone procedures for osteonecrosis of the femoral head, replantation surgery for amputated limbs, wrist arthroscopy, brachial plexus injuries, free tissue transfers for defects caused by bone and tissue loss, and upper extremity surgery involving blood vessels, nerves, tendons, fractures, and dislocations.

Dr. Mehmet Baydar has achieved high levels of patient satisfaction and surgical success in his clinical practice. With advances in anesthesia techniques and modern technology, orthopedic and hand surgery procedures can now be performed successfully. There are also other successful clinics in Istanbul providing services in various fields of orthopedics and hand surgery.

Dr. Mehmet Baydar evaluates complex patients and makes challenging clinical decisions. When necessary, he establishes multidisciplinary councils to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for the patient. In areas outside his expertise, he refers patients to other physicians. His priority is to ensure that patients receive the appropriate treatment, recover successfully, and remain satisfied with their care.

Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Hospital is a specialized hospital providing services in Orthopedics and Traumatology. It opened as a hospital in 1944 and officially began operating under the name Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Hospital in 1960. Approximately 66 years of orthopedic experience and the treatment of tens of thousands of orthopedic patients from across Türkiye have contributed to a strong institutional legacy.

Although the physicians working at the hospital have changed over the years, this institutional experience has enabled it to remain recognized as one of Türkiye’s leading bone disease hospitals. As part of his professional association with this institution, Dr. Mehmet Baydar worked there as an Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist between 2012 and 2017 and as a Hand Surgery Subspecialist between 2019 and 2023, contributing to the follow-up and treatment of more than 10,000 patients over a total period of nine years.
